With food, drinks, clothes, cameras, and snow chains packed, we started our trip at around 5pm from Irvine. Taking the freeways 405, 5, and 41, we reached our hotel, Comfort Inn, in Oakhurst at about 10pm. Dinner was solved on the way in a Subway.
Oakhurst is a small town with only 2 roads, but it has everything you need: hotels, gas stations, at least 1 big supermarket, at least 1 WaMu, fast food restaurants including KFC, Jack in the Box, McDonald's, at least 1 theater, 2 Chinese restaurants (named Jade and Five Star, respectively. Jade is Americanized.), 2 sushi places, ... It's best described by the Chinese idiom "麻雀雖小，五臟俱全", which literally means that a sparrow may be small, but its body has every organ it needs.
