Although I've ever failed two history exams in high school, I clearly remember the description about this dam in my high school history book. During the Great Depression, the US government invested a big amount of money in building a bunch of public constructions, one of which is this famous Hoover Dam, so as to provide a lot of occupations and to save the crashing economy.

This dam is on the border between the states of Nevada and Arizona.

Construction began in 1931 and was completed in 1935, more than two years ahead of schedule.
